Philosophical conference 2011

@About IOP

The Institute of Philosophy is the first philosophical non-governmental organization in Nepal which was established and officially registered on September 26, 2003 under government of Nepal's Society Registration Act 2038 B.S. in Katmandu, Nepal. The registration number is 339/60/61.

@Overall goal

To develop and promote philosophical culture in or out of Nepal with researches, practices and education.

@Objectives

1. To promote and perform philosophical studies, researches and teachings.

2. To promote and perform publishing, translation, sales , import and export of all kinds of philosophical books and literature in Nepali and English.

3. To promote and perform Exchange - Program to philosophical & relevant scholars and students nationally & internationally.

4. To promote and perform cultural and cross-cultural exchanges related to philosophy nationally & internationally.

5. To promote and perform social understandings, saving original cultural identity of different social and religious groups in Nepal by demoralizing any kind of religious or social blindness within them on philosophical vision. 

6. To promote and perform strong relationship with worldly societies, institutions, organizations and individuals having equal objectives.

7. To promote and conduct Exchange - Program physically, financially and expertise nationally and internationally.

8. To establish a philosophy campus (college). T he IOP may receive subsidy from government or interested groups, organizations, as well as donations from corporations or individuals. The use of these funds may be restricted to specific tasks, projects of research, or publications specially local research, or be used to organize particular conferences, so far as these activities are clearly connected to the aims of the IOP and are meant to support, at an international level, to promote the progress of philosophical studies and their communication to the world of learning and the intellectuals.

@People

Philosophy professionals and well-wishers are running this organization. To be involved into organization, you need to be at list bachelor in philosophy and Nepali citizen. Non Nepalese and non-professionals also can join us but they couldn't be part of executive board in Institute philosophy.

Any person from any discipline can apply for membership. The executives board is final authority to issuing membership. please fill membership application form  and post/e-mail or fax it  to the membership coordinator, institute of Philosophy, post box No: 15142 KPC 1000, Katmandu, Nepal e-mail: info@philosophy.org.np, fax 977-1-4373283. Member- ship is free but if you want to have a membership card, please send US$ 5 as postage charge extra and allow 1 month for reaching you if your are from overseas.

@The Philosopher (Journal)

Institute of philosophy also publishes "The philosopher" twice a year. This is the only philosophical journal from Nepal. We would like to request send us you philosophical articles to be published in it. The genuine, practical and creative-critical articles reflecting your ideas on philosophical topics in the present society will be given preferences. Research article could be maximum 3500 words and other should be no exceed then 1500 words respectively. Presently, IOP don't have any remunerations to pay to the writers, just we can send you two copies of "The Philosopher" as your gratitude. The articles could be sent at gsu300(at)gmail.com. Please don't forget to keep copy of sent article/s with you because we don't back any article/s even published or not in "The Philosopher".
