and Meditation
Patanjali defines yoga as complete suppression of all mental modes.
Vyasa defines it as absorptive concentration, and regards it as a
universal attributes of the mind. All persons can attain yoga by
repeated practice and detachment. The distracted, infatuated, and
occasionally steady minds are not fit for yoga. The one-pointed and
restrained minds are fit for it. The yogin only knows the nature of
yoga, and can attain it by servere mental discipline. Yoga generates
occult powers, clairvoyance, clairaudience, thought reading,
thought-transference, and the like. If he yogin is infacuted with
them, he falls from yoga. If he is indifferent to them, he will
delight in yoga forever. The yogic practise only can lead the yogin
from a lower stage to a higher stage. The art of yoga is a matter of
constant practise and discipline of the body, the vital forces, and
the mind. It is pre-eminently an art of mental discipline.
According
to Patanjali, YOGA is divided into eight sections: restrains (yama)
observance (niyama) bodily postures (asana) beath control (pranayama)
withdrawal of the sense-organs (pratyahar) fixation of goal (dharna)
meditation (Dhyana) and absorptive concentration (samadhi) as aids to
the yoga.
The yoga
enjoins the complete suppression of all mental modes and eradication
of mental dispositions by rigid discipline of body, the vital forces,
and the mind, and the moral practice.Yoga Sutra is prime book of Yoga
traditions and it was writen my Great Sage Patanjali.
Nowadays, Asana (bodily postures), Pranayama (breath controlling) and
Dhyana (meditation) are more popular and being practiced allover. Many
Indian Sadhus had invented many different methods of Yoga and teaching
in practice.
Although yoga includes exercise, it is also a routine for which work out
is just one component. Disciplining your mind and body as well as
connecting with your spirituality are the main goals of the yoga
lifestyle. There are many myths, mysterious stories and opinions about
achievements of Yoga and Yogin!!!!!
Although it seems like a hot new trend, yoga actually began more than
3,000 years ago in Nepal by Sage Patanjalli. The word yoga comes from
Sanskrit, and it means to "yoke," or bring together the mind, body,
and spirit.
Although yoga includes exercise, it is also a routine for which work
out is just one component. Disciplining your mind and body as well as
connecting with your spirituality are the main goals of the yoga
lifestyle.
The physical component of the yoga lifestyle is called hatha yoga.
Hatha yoga focuses on Assanas, or poses. A person who practices yoga
goes through a series of specific poses while controlling his or her
breathing. Some types of yoga also involve meditation and chanting
even a dancing too.
